Celebrate Christmas in Singapore – Celebration Opening Invitation

The Chairman and members of the CCIS Organising Committee extends a warm invitation to the Media to witness the opening ceremony of Celebrate The Spirit of Christmas - CCIS 2008.
On 19th December at 6.30pm Guest of Honour, Mayor Dr Amy Khor, Mayor, South West District and Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and VIP guests will board the CCIS Float from the Four Seasons Hotel at Orchard Boulevard. The 8 CCIS Float procession will then parade down Orchard Road.
At 7.30pm, the Float procession will arrive at Plaza Singapura in front of the Christmas Village, site of the Christmas Story, where Dr Amy Khor and VIP guests will alight to inaugurate the opening of CCIS ‘08. More than 6,000 people are expected to witness the opening ceremony.
The 7-day (from 19th December to 25th December) event culminating on the 25th December 2008 will feature stage performances between 7pm till 11pm nightly, along Orchard Walkway (fronting Wisma Atria), Paragon, Tangs, Tong Building and Plaza Singapura.
Orchard Road will burst out with the good news of Christmas in song, dance and drama. Local performing groups as well as overseas tribal and ethnic groups will take centre stage at the nightly celebrations.
After the opening ceremony,the Christmas Floats will tour the heartlands of Singapore starting with Joo Chiat and Katong stopping at various venues to spread the joy and share the community celebration with skits, drama and carolling.
